Mini Bites: November
Everybody loves...
It's been a crazy few days since the Wales Blog Awards with a guest post for Media Wales and a Storify from ITV Wales.
If that wasn't enough to have you all totally fed up of me, I've also been invited onto Radio Cardiff's Saturday breakfast show this weekend (5th November). I'll be speaking to the lovely Jeremy Rees about food, writing and the Wales Blog Awards and picking out a couple of my favourite soul standards. If you live in the Cardiff area, tune into 98.7FM from 8am, everyone else can listen online or download the podcast on the Sunday.
Brew Up
The clocks have gone back, the days are getting shorter and suddenly gravity in the morning seems to be a lot stronger, making it near on impossible to get out of bed. Fed up of reaching for your cup of instant coffee, or spending a fortune down at Costalottabucks? Head to the Waterloo Tea Garden this November and learn all about real coffee.
Will Corby (aka The Caffeine Kid, Coffee Hunter employed by Mercanta) will be leading classes in Coffee Tasting & Barista Skills. Winner of the 2010 Northern Heat and 2011 London Heat of the UK Barista Championships, Will is one of the foremost figures in the coffee world today.
All courses are priced at £40 per person. Light food is included. Spaces are limited. If both courses are booked at the same time - the total cost will be £75
Coffee Cupping in the morning 8am
Tasting coffee in its most natural form as the professionals do; you will be guided through cupping protocol and tasting procedures. Here you will taste 8 coffees of different varietals and farms including some of the worlds most sought after beans.
Barista Skills in the evening 6pm
This course will cover all elements of espresso machine use from how to adjust your grinder, tamping technique, pulling top espresso, milk preparation and espresso machine maintenance. It will leave you heading for home packed with enthusiasm for producing great tasting drinks!
Book here!
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Sorry to mention the "C" word when it's only just turned November but I'm very excited to tell you that I have an article in the December issue of the BBC's Olive Magazine, out this week!
Check it out for tips on where to eat, shop and stay on a glitzy shopping trip to Cardiff, perfect for a pre-Christmas gettaway.
Now I absolutely promise not to mention the "C" word for another month. Honest.
