Mini Bites: May

Loads of foodie news this month!

Veggie-Tastic

Cardiff foodies should head along to the award-winning Cardiff Vegetarian Festival on Saturday May 21st and sample wonderful meat-free food from local business including The Ethical Chef, Fantastic Crepes, The Parsnipship, Serenity Raw Goodness (100% raw vegan), Milgi and Café Atma.

Along with the food there will be a chance to learn more at the information stands, chill out to some live music and indulge in a spot of facepainting.

People's Supermarket coming to Cardiff?

As well as running his popular stall at the local farmer's markets, cooking at his pop-up cafe in Canton and preparing for the veggie food festival, Deri Reed (aka The Ethical Chef) is also trying to gather interest in setting up a People's Supermarket in the city.  Find out more and get involved here.

Bye bye

Sad news now as two local sites come to a close.  The Chief has announced that Cardiff restaurant review site, Tea and Biscuits, has dined for the last time.  Luckily for us they are planning new and wonderous things and I wish them all the best in new ventures.

It has also been announced that The Guardian Local project, of which I have contributed several articles to, has been deemed unsustainable in it's current form and will be ending shortly.  I would like to thank our "Beatblogger" Hannah for her excellent work in the city, particurlarly her support of the local blogging community.  Her encouragement of this blog has been unwavering and the closure of the site will be a big loss to the city.  Hopefully she too will move on to bigger and better things.

Coming soon

Reviews in the pipeline: Sunday lunch at Park Plaza and dinner with a difference at The Hamptons, Penarth.  Watch this space!

I agree about Hannah. She has done a great job and I think the Guardian is mistaken - she should have been kept on ... but it's their loss.
Thanks for the heads up on the veggie festival! Will be following you with interest from now on for Cardiff foodie news, as I spend a lot of my spare time there!
